Happy New Year! No it’s not January 1, but it is October! So what’s the point you ask?

Well personally and professionally October brings a two-fold fresh start:

1. A personal New Year because October 2nd marks a personal New Year of Life for me! The day God breathed life into me and planted me on this very earth now 36 whole years ago.

2. Plus everyone knows that October 1st marks the beginning of a New {Fiscal} Year, especially those of us who work in government careers or own businesses! The New Fiscal Year is a big deal for our respective organizations.

So again I say “Happy New Year!”

Welcome to Chapter 36 of my life story, and in the spirit of my past Birthday Blog posts over the years on my previous blog website, I am bringing back my Life Lessons and Principles count down with the addition of the scripture references that speak to the heart behind each one. I have written and shared this list with you from the heart to hopefully encourage you on your personal faith journey, so that together our joy in the Lord together may be complete (1 John 1:3-4).

So here we go 36 Life Principles, Lessons, Concepts, or whatever title you want to apply, that I’ve learned to love about my life over these victorious 36 years:

#36 – Shut the door and pour; the miracle cannot be televised (2 Kings 4:4)

#35 – No net…live as if there’s no turning back, no do-overs, no safety net to catch you when you fall. Travel light! (Philippians 3:13-14) and (Isaiah 43:18-19)

#34 – Discretion is a decision. The world only knows what you decide to tell them…Surrender to Silence. People will always think they know you when they really don’t (Proverbs 2:11 NIV)

#33 – Hold your mule…in the stillness of life…love happens. Wait for it. Pray for it. Be still and know that it’s happening. (Psalm 32:8-9)

#32 – It’s okay to let go, and let Jesus get in the boat. (Luke 5:3)

#31 – Not everyone will understand you, but those that matter will, and will cherish what you have to offer (Galatians 1:10)

#30 – Love yourself first, it’s not selfish. (1 Corinthians 6:12)

#29 – Consciousness is your friend, think before you act (Proverbs 8:33)

#28 – Fitness is the fountain of youth (Isaiah 58:11, NLT)

#27 – Be present, let people know that you care (Luke 8: 43-48)

#26 – Failure is never an option, but a choice (Rom. 8:35-39)

#25 – Plan for success and believe in your plan (Proverbs 16:9)

#24 – Take chances, put your neck in the noose of life (Mark 8:35)

#23 – Food is for physiological nourishment, not mental and physical pleasure, practice contentment. (1 Corinthians 9:27) and (1 Corinthians 8:8) and (Proverbs 23: 1-3 MSG) and (Daniel 1:8, 12, 13, 15) and (1 Corinthians 6:12, 20b) and (Proverbs 23:20-21 MSG) and (Matthew 5:6 MSG) and ( Matthew 4:4b NLT) and (Matthew 6:16-18 MSG)

#22 – Ask questions, answer questions, nothing’s off limits for debate or change (Matthew 7:7-8)

#21 – Be fearless (1 John 4:18) and (Deuteronomy 31:6 ESV)

#20 – Take the road less traveled (Matthew 7:13-14)

#19 – Be Out Standing (1 Peter 2:9-10)

#18 – Root to Rise (Colossians 2:7-9)

#17 – Follow your dreams, they know the path to your true calling in life (Genesis 37)

#16 – Dare to dream, and dream BIG! (Proverbs 16:3)

#15 – Keep growing. Keep living! (1 Timothy 4:15)

#14 – Be transparent, live out loud (2 Corinthians 8:21)

#13 – Live such an fascinating life, that it’s open book worthy (Daniel 4:2) and (1 John 1:4)

#12 – Reach your goals, but take time to listen to the goals of others (Galatians 5:13) and (Ephesians

#11 – Be a light…enlightenment is a gift (Matthew 5:14-16)

#10 – Shock yourself, then go out and shock the world (Ephesians 3:20-21 MSG)

#9 – Do any and everything you ever thought about doing (Ephesians 3:20-21 MSG)

#8 – Never let anyone tell you what you can’t do (Ephesians 3:20-21 MSG) and (1 Timothy 4:12 ESV)

#7 – Can’t is not a word in my vocabulary, it’s meaningless (Ephesians 3:20-21 MSG) and (Phillipians 4:8 MSG)

#6 – Eat breakfast (Ephesians 5:29 ESV) and (Matthew 5:6 MSG) and (Matthew 4:4b NLT) and (John 6:51)

#5 – Move everyday. Moving heals. Sitting kills. (1 Corinthians 9:24-27 NLT) and (1 Timothy 4:7b-8 MSG)

#4 – Become obsessed with you, there’s only one, love it to pieces (Psalm 139:13-15 ESV) and (Ephesians 2:10) and (Galatians 6:4)

#3 – Take the keys and drive into your future, don’t sit back and wait for other people to give you permission (Proverbs 12:11) and (Proverbs 14:23) and (Philippians 3:13-14)

#2 – Love people for who and what they are, and don’t be afraid to leave them where you found them, you only control you, love and protect that! (Proverbs 4:23) and (1 John 4:19)

#1 – Pray first every day! (Ephesians 6:18) and (1 Thessalonians 5:17)
It is with much gratitude in my heart that you took time to celebrate this new year with me by reading this post. It is my prayer that the Lord continue to keep you in all things, in every season, and supply all of your needs according to His riches and glory for Christ’s name sake. Amen!
