So as mentioned in last week’s post for #FruitFULLFridays, we will dive further into what it means to be and remain connected to the source of our FruitFULness.

“I am the vine, ye are the branches: He that abideth in me, and I in him, the same bringeth forth much fruit: for without me ye can do nothing.

If a man abide not in me, he is cast forth as a branch, and is withered; and men gather them, and cast them into the fire, and they are burned.

If ye abide in me, and my words abide in you, ye shall ask what ye will, and it shall be done unto you.”

~ John 15:5-7 KJV

In reading the above words of Jesus noted in John chapter 15 we realize that the true source of our FruitFULness rests in our relationship with Jesus Christ. As we abide in Him through the Holy Spirit, we are given power to live out all of the characteristics of the Fruit of the Spirit. We we stray away from our relationship Christ, we lose that connection. Our lives begin to look like the world and our sinful human nature reacts and responds in ways that don’t give life to those around us, including ourselves. So we must stay connected to the vine.

Think of a plant, its roots run deep in the soil where it receives its life-giving nutrients. When that plant is disconnected from those roots it soon begins to die. The same goes for our relationship with God. When we lose sight of our connection to Him through prayer and worship, and regular attendance and serving the local church, we stop communing with our Heavenly Father, our creator and source of true life.

Eventually our lives become lifeless, miserable, and cycle of bitterness and immoral behaviors take root in our lives. Similar to weeds in a garden. Something anyone with a green thumb for gardening knows is a bad sign. We must also view our lives in that same way, and stay faithful in our relationship with God in order to remain FruitFULL.

So in closing from last week’s message. The question of are you FruitFULL can best be answered by asking the question, are you Connected to the vine?

Until next time…
